As I make my way back home to Portland, Oregon, I finally have a moment to breathe and reflect on the amazing work our volunteer REALTORS® do on behalf of our 1.3 million members. From working through multiple listing rules to member and consumer communications, and our tireless advocacy to protect private property rights for our clients and colleagues back home, these amazing leaders never cease to amaze me, and it is a privilege to call them friends!
This year I was honored to be a contributing member of the REALTOR® PAC Fundraising Trustees Committee, Member Communications Committee, as well as the National Women’s Council of REALTORS® Executive Committee. It is exciting to be effecting changes that move our industry into the future.
I was reminded this week that homeownership is not a special interest, it is a common interest, and it is up to all of us to preserve the American Dream for many generations to come. I was humbled by my fellow REALTORS® who gave their time and talent not only at our meetings in Chicago but back home in the neighborhoods and communities that we serve. I witnessed the most amazing acts of human kindness including relief efforts to help those affected by recent natural disasters, delivering care packages to the homeless community in Chicago, helping neighbors in need of assistance with bills when hard times hit, along with many other selfless stories of giving where we live. We are community builders, and I am very proud to be a part of this awesome REALTOR® family.
