GREEN Resource Council has an Advisory Board that helps direct the program, the designation, and the Class. It is a great honor and privilege to work with these fine volunteers from around the country under the leadership of NAR’s Amanda Stinton, with the assistance of Tonette Lauer.
The photo above shows everyone involved in the meeting. At the computer is Amanda Stinton, then clockwise Eileen Oldroyd, Tonette Lauer, Chris Tenegren, John Shipman, Laura Stukel, Kim Pontius, James Mitchell, Jennifer Rzeszewski, Craig Foley and Bob Hart. I am behind the camera and Melissa Camp joined us on the phone. Missing at the meeting were Kerri Hartnett Mel Harris, Jaclyn Toole and Terry Watson.
Amanda reported some very good accomplishments and numbers for the year. Handouts for members to use were updated. The updated version of the GREEN Designation class is well received and there have been more live classes and more students in each class. CE for the online version is now approved in 38 states. Membership in the council (those that go on and pay dues) are up to 4,225.
HomeSelfie, a recent member benefit, does an amazing job are assessing the energy efficiency of a house. The website is being updated this year. There was also a major survey of the members that was reviewed in some detail. Here is an interesting slide of general interest.
The big news is a little outside the GRC but definitely supported by all here. NAR created a Sustainability Advisory Group that will report directly to the Leadership Team of NAR. This group of about 40 will look at all aspects to the organization to develop the most sustainable actions for the whole association. More details will be coming soon on this.
On the more fun side, the council supported the Green Pavilion on the Expo floor. To bring attention to the designation and to the green vendors that chose this location, the pavilion featured drinks one afternoon and “coffee art” on another.
There was also a raffle of a bike donated by GRC member James Mitchell. We are looking forward to another great year and developing more GREEN designees!
